Reading/Map Lamp Install

The reading/map lamp in the front cabin area has been installed.
We used a 2 -1/8 inch rotary drill bit to help make the holes where the lamp base was inserted into the bottom of the cabinet.

You can see the fixture turned on here with the halogen lights that came with the lamp.
We weren't that happy with the color that the bulbs gave us along wit the heat that will come with the halogen bulbs.

Here is a photo with the LED bulb on the left side and the yellow-looking halogen on the right side.

And finally here it is with both LED bulbs in it.

PS-Note to self- the fuse for this and the antenna power amp is the third 15A fuse in the fuse box that is on the driver side engine compartment.

Another Water Leak Repair

We live in an area that recently had some very heavy rain. This is a good thing for two different reasons:

• We need the rain to feel up the lakes and reservoirs.
• We need the rain to find any possible leaks in the front cabinet before we close it up.

*I am happy to report that a leak was found and here is the culprit-


We did use a towel and a small heater to dry the cabinet after discovering the leak-
*Happy is being used only because I am happy we discovered this before we closed up this area. We have also had another heavy rainstorm since the repair and I am happy to report that the leak has been eliminated.

More Electrical

DH added another outlet on the bottom of the front cabinet.

This one is a GFCI outlet that is not tied to the inverter.  It will be great to use for an electrical heater during the winter when we are not dry-camping.

Big Stuff -Small Package

We still feel the need for a computer while on the road so DH has come up for a very small bundle that will deliver with a big punch!
Here is the picture of the computer that is next to a normal DISH TV remote.


You can also see that the unit has two more USB3 slots on the back of the computer besides the front two shown above-
The wireless mouse and keyboard will make it very simple to control this system once it is hooked up to the television!

Miscellaneous Stuff

Here is a grab bag of things that we are working on-

New kitchen faucet-


It has been purchased but it is not installed.


This is probably what we will use in the kitchen sink plumbing:

This is the light fixture that will probably be mounted in the front cabin area:

I guess I should finish my shopping!

Satellite Is Closer

...We have (okay- maybe I should say HE) has mounted the satellite dish on top of the roof.
There is more to the story- but here is a photo to prove the first statement-

Another Correction

Evidently the new kitchen sink has a protective or maybe a slightly insulated bottom to it as you can see below:


We had to do a bit of "shaving" so that we could close the top drawer all the way!

New Spot Lighting

We started with these lights just above the Entertainment Center.

They are obviously pre-LED lighting.  We have been looking for some of the flat opaque puck lighting that we have been seeing in the newer RVs - but we have not found any of those.
This seems to be the next best solution:

These are better than the original lights......but this does not mean that I don't want any real leads to the new flat pucks!

Countertop Teaser

Here are a few photos of what is going on with the new countertop:

(You can see the countertop on the Entertainment Center in the background is also being switched over.) Here is a better photo of the Entertainment Center countertop.

And here is the cutting board that I will use so that I do have "extra" counter space.

We still have some finish work to take care of - but I had to share some pics!

Another New Decorator Touch Coming Soon

We have decided to go ahead and get the counter top and the Entertainment center top redone.
You can see the old green tone counter in this photo along with a sample of the new countertop.


And here is a sample of the new countertop next to the cabinet color, the wall texture and the flooring.

Nexus21 TV Lift in Action

I finally took a few moments to video tape the TV lift in action. It is a Nexus 21 TV lift that we bought directly from the manufacturer. 

 We love the lift for many different reasons- including how quiet it is and the quality of their workmanship.


(The noise you hear in the beginning is me moving around.)

Upgraded Antenna

We decided to do a complete upgrade on the "over the air antenna" while we were doing the front cabinet.
Here is a photo of the old TV antenna from last year -

Antenna Amp Upgrade

We decided to go ahead and upgrade the TV antenna power amplifier while we are in the middle of the front cabinet re-do.
This was an quick and easy item to take care of once we got the part.

Now all we have to do is add the new over the air antenna!

Front Cabinet -WOW!

You know we have been re-doing the front cabinet if you have been following this blog.
We thought we were  going to put a padded vinyl covering on it but we were not happy as to how it was turning out. We decided to put a painted solid piece of wood up instead.

Water Leak Patch

We decided we needed to fix this -



by using this-


-to end up with a water-tight patch that looks like this-

Front Cabinet Bottom

The bottom of the cabinet was cut to fill in the opening where the old TV cut out was.

It has been covered with batting and foam.

It was then covered with the same color vinyl as what was on it before we started this project.. The next step will be to figure out where we will mount the new fans so that we can drill the holes. This will make it easier to mount the fans after the bottom has been installed.

Another Major Project

I am sorry Dear, but the price was too good to pass up!
Yep I have made another purchase that adds another project to the list.

We have decided to go with DISH since they have an RV package where we can pay for a month at a time.

Front Cabinet Project

We have begun the front cabinet remodel.  Our plan is to make the cabinet bottom flat all the way across.

Here is a fuzzy photo of what it started as-

And this is what we will use as the pattern when we cut the new bottom-
(It was the original bottom to the cabinet.)

Generator Job Is Completed

Yep-
The generator is back up and it runs very nicely!



It is hard to tell in this photo but the box has been sanded and repainted black also.

Curtain Tie-Backs

Here is a simple solution to curtain tie-back "hooks" that you can also tie in to match your décor.
I picked up 2 drawer knobs at Lowe's along with some hollow wall anchors.

We have mounted one on each side of the front side windows to use as the tie-back hooks for the front window curtains.
