These old dog-house latches were brutal on my ankles- The circular metal part scraped my leg every time I would get in or out of the passenger seat ...
... I insisted on a different mechanism.
We had the butterfly latches on our last rig- so I went searching for something similar.
This is the smaller part of what we came up with-
.
We will add a few more to keep it secure.
My husband & I recently purchased a 1999 Damon Daybreak motorhome and I have decided this may be the easiest way to document our own "polishing" of the "diamond in the rough" -or in plain english ..."Our Remodel" of this RV.

Furnace Replacement
We have determined the life of an RV furnace is 16 years.
Our furnace started "squealing" if the outside temps were under 40 degrees.
We decided to order a newer model furnace- but it turned out that no one had it is stock...so we decided that we would put up with the "squealing baby pig" for a bit longer.
Evidently the furnace decided to force our hand- It decided to add a burning smell to the squeal. We were now forced to get a new furnace- It lasted 16 years- so we ordered the same model.
Now the story takes a slight detour-Do NOT waste your money on 2-day shipping if you order on a Wednesday afternoon before the processing cut-off. It doesn't mean anything.Second- just because the box does not have any dings on it does not mean there isn't any damage-
. Luckily DH knows how to fix these things-so the installation continues-
The installation continues without too many hiccups. We now have a furnace without the squeal.
(PS- does anyone know how long the 'burn-off' smell will continue? It continues to go longer before the smell-but I am so over it!)

Tick-Tockless
There are times that all I can hear in the Diamond is the sound of "click - click - click". It is from this clock that is mounted between two of the upper slide cabinets.
We just replaced it with a new atomic clock...
...ahhhh the sound of peace & quiet!
(The wood has not been changed- one photo was taken with lights on and is heavily cropped...the other is taken in the morning with no curtains open or lights on and on a cloudy morning.)
