...so that $70 bag of parts...
added to a big white plastic box
and a black cylinder with connectors...
.... equals a water tank being hooked up to a new water pump!
My husband & I recently purchased a 1999 Damon Daybreak motorhome and I have decided this may be the easiest way to document our own "polishing" of the "diamond in the rough" -or in plain english ..."Our Remodel" of this RV.

When Is 13" Too Small?
No-not that...I am talking about TV size...
...Just how big is too big when it comes to a TV in a 34' RV?
My answer is when it won't fit in a custom made cabinet (that has not been built yet!)
Here are a few photos of the television replacement project... Small 13" TV has been removed.
55" LG Television (Model # 55LA6970) on it's temporary stand (2 dining room chairs with a piece of plywood for support.)
Stage 1 of Lift Install
Lift Install Mid-Installation
Television Extended. This will be great for blocking out the light from the window behind it. We have designed the cabinet for it to go in- but that is another project down the road.
We love how smooth & quiet this lift from Nexus 21 is!

Door Covering Surprise
Many RVs have door treatments with many of those concealing screens that cover the door window.. Our Damon is the one without a screen...
-and we discovered why today when we removed the window treatment...
...I love how the wiring is done- don't you!!? The red tape is a nice touch...don't you agree...
...Not to mention how well the door opening was cut in...
You can also see the gap between the screen and the rubber seal that should be attached to the door frame- but isn't.
We will fill in around the frame and also replace the rubber seal so that it fits properly.

"The List"... Revisited
This morning I thought I would revisit the list that I shared almost a year ago to see where we stand.
We have done 1/3 of the list at this time along with many other things that were not included on the original list.
Some of the things that were not on the original list that have been completed or are in stages of completion include:
Here is the original list with items that have been completed crossed through:
Some of the things that were not on the original list that have been completed or are in stages of completion include:
- Twin Beds into a Queen Bed
- New skylight in the bathroom
- New water pump (the old one is out- the new one will be installed soon)
- Switching the 30 Amp panel out for a new 50 Amp panel
- Adding a Pure-sine Inverter/Charger/Converter (this is still in the process)
- New residential refrigerator (the cabinet framing has not been done yet)
- New TV lift for the new 55" flatscreen TV
- New surround system for the main living area.
- New electrical wiring for the fridge so that it is tied into the inverter sub-panel.
- New electrical for the hot water heater
- Electrical load is being split so that not everything is tied to one side of the 50 Amp main breaker
- New flooring
- New cabinetry in the bedroom area (we have had the cabinetmaker out for measurements and design-so this is more a timing issue now)
- New window covering (This will be one of the last things we do since I will tie it into the new "colors" that we decide for the interior)
- New toilet (and probably new bathtub area)
- New sofa
- New drawers to be added into some of the "dead spaces" throughout the coach
Here is the original list with items that have been completed crossed through:
1. Driver side windshield is broken-it needs replacing.(both sides may need resealing)
2. Wipers blades need replacing.
3. Generator won’t run.
4. All plastic latches to hold the outside doors up need replacing.
5. Dash Air Conditioning does not work.
6. Jacks don’t work.
7. Jack down light comes on while driving.
8. Full awning has multiple rips in it…needs replacing.
9. Slide awning is also damaged- also needs to be replaced.
10. The roof caulking needs to be redone ASAP (There will be water intrusion when it rains otherwise)
11. Rubber roof needs to be replaced within the next 2 years.
12. Carpet stains will not come out – carpet needs to be replaced. (This may also be source of smell.)
13. Tires are 6 years old- they need to be replaced.
14. Water leaks around windows.
15. Bottom door lock does not work – it needs to be fixed/replaced.
16. TVs will not work with new mandated format unless you are evidently hooked to cable so they will not work if you are dry-camping.
17. Wallpaper is peeling away at inside RV wall corners (water leaks?)
18. Bath fan does not seem to work.
19. Outside refrigerator vent broken- needs to be replaced.
20. Gouge on passenger side wall near fridge needs to be fixed.
21. Plastic Wheel Well trim is broken- needs to be replaced.
22. At least one storage area leaks…there is mold on items that were stored in it.
23. Plastic trim around bottom third of rig is broken/cracked…needs to be replaced. (This may have caused the leakage in storage area.)
24. Owners’ manual books are damaged and pages are stuck together. (Have not found replacement books yet)
25. Batteries will not hold charge- will need to be replaced soon.
26. Electrical Cover on outside passenger side is missing- it needs to be replaced. (There may also be issues with electrical due to water being able to get into electrical system.)
27. Cover on driver side for phone/cable is missing…needs replacing.
28. 30 Amp electrical cord needs to be replaced…end is partially melted (fried)
29. Electrical cover mentioned in #26 also is allowing water to enter behind wall due to the “hole” at top. There may be water damage there.
30. Need new sewer hose –tanks cannot be dumped - no other water system area has been checked…including water heater and water pump.

Electrical Overload in My Brain...
I will be the first to admit that I get very nervous when anyone who is not a licensed electrician works around electricity - including my husband- so I am always relieved when he lets me know he has finished another stage of the 30Amp to 50Amp electrical project.
He started with an older 30 amp electrical distribution panel
and switched it out for a panel that handles 50 amps of stuff.
He has added a PureSine Inverter/Charger/Converter in a compartment -
....continues to work on adding the rest of the wiring...
- but for now- the charger is keeping the batteries charged!
I am posting this photo for my own "notes" so I can understand how this stuff works!

Roof-Top Time
We decided we should get the roof taken care of before the rain started this year so we called Ron - aka "The RVRoofMan". He came out and gave my husband a quote. (This is the part that gets a bit hazy because my husband understood the process to be a bit different than what it really was.)
"TheRVRoofMan" showed up on time with a crew of three other people. You could tell that one of the other three guys was the lead man for "Ron".
Ron and the lead sprayed the rooftop with a lightweight pressure washer before they began. The three guys then started taping off the edges and then "cut in" the edges with the silicone treatment that they used to seal the rooftop.
The lead man then took a paint roller and "painted" the rooftop with the wet silicone. We were told the guarantee is based on how thick they apply the treatment.
It looks great and I am sure it will hold up - but I think we will do it ourselves the next time.

The Fridge Is Here!
...The refrigerator is here-and it is plugged in but that does not mean it is installed...first- let me say that I LOVE the design and looks of it!
It has clean lines- and a very modern design - (did I mention that I love the design & looks of it?)
The freezer portion is much larger than the old Norcold that we took out...(oh...did I mention I love the design & looks of it - even with the shipping stuff still in it?)
I look forward to squeezing that design & look into this spot soon!
This is a link to a "Brochure PDF" of the 2014 model of the LG refrigerator. ..and here is a photo sharing the dimensions.

This May Be A First...
...because neither my husband or I have seen this situation before...here is a little background...
We were sitting in the driver area of the rig as we do many days as we discuss our projects for the Damon. This day just happened to be one of our hot days.
I started complaining about being hot when he told me to open the air vent more to increase the air flow. I reached up and decided to pull the diffusers off both vents... ...and this is what I discovered...
Please note the difference inside each vent. Evidently we have no air flow coming to the passenger side front AC vent.
Does anyone have any idea of how to remedy this?
