I thought about what I wanted the new blinds to do before I ordered them.
First and foremost...they needed to cut down on the heat...
(so we got the double cone shades!)
...next...they needed to block out the light...(picture before...
and after...
I also decided that I did not need the 'day-night' blinds because we had the exterior window awnings - BUT I wanted to make sure I still had some since of privacy so I opted to have the shades so that they could also drop down from the top or raise from the bottom!
......I am very pleased with my choice!
My husband & I recently purchased a 1999 Damon Daybreak motorhome and I have decided this may be the easiest way to document our own "polishing" of the "diamond in the rough" -or in plain english ..."Our Remodel" of this RV.

Bedroom Blinds (Part 2)
There was one more window blind that we needed to install in the bedroom area and it was the most important one to me. It is the one you see as you look back into the bedroom once you are in the coach!
You can see the speakers wires in the right corner above the windows along with the wiring for the light scone on the opposite side.
You can see where we have gotten rid of the speaker wires and the sconce wiring has been tucked behind the mounting board for the blind...
Now we are ready to mount the blind...and here it is mounted with the blind down.
You can also see that I finally have a view outside of the back of the 'Diamond'!

What a Difference a Layer Makes!
DH has been busy working on a few of my "Honey-Do's" on the 'Diamond' before our upcoming trip.
This week has been getting the new bedroom shades installed.
You can see from this picture what the shades in the RV looked like.
There was only one layer of material to keep the sun and heat out. This picture shows just how the sunlight comes through on a closed blind.
Here is a side view of the new blinds material.
The install was more of a multi-layer installation...first check on the length ...
..and then the "shims" to put on the mounting board
...and then finally the finished valance.

Sawzall??
We finally found someone who was qualified to install the Banks system but DH wasn't happy as to where the Banks Super Scoop was installed...so he proceeded to cut a hole in the front fiberglass bumper.
He then attached the scoop to the fiberglass with a glue and along with layers of fiberglass to help secure it .
He continued to smooth out the front cut with bondo and sand paper.
He then painted it so it did not look like a big black hole in the front of the Damon.
You hardly notice the Super Scoop hole now!

Rear License Light Replacement
The rear license plate light decided to crack off while SacsTC was away in the Damon getting another project updated so we had to replace the old light. (see pic below to see the crack to the right)
He ordered a new replacement light from Amazon. It is almost identical but we updated to an LED light that is encased in stainless.
I decided I would update our license plate frame to what you see below...
SacsTC is not a fan..but he still put it on. (Gosh...I love him so much!)
(Here is the new LED lighting the new frame at night)
Look for us when we are on the road!

Battery Maintenance
This is a friendly reminder to keep your batteries healthy by equalizing them each year.
Here is a photo of our house battery bank as we start the procedure...
(You can hear the batteries gurgling if you listen closely! )
Here is what our panel looks like as we are doing this procedure ...
...and finally where we are once the procedure is done...
SIDE NOTE- Please look up the proper procedure in your inverter manual. The procedure may be different depending on your brand.

Toad Is Ready
It has been too hot in the valley to let DH do the work in the driveway so we took the Jeep up to Affordable RV last week to have the set it up for towing.
I did not stay there to take photos since it was going to be an eleven hour process.
Here is a photo of the plug of the back of the Damon... (this was already on the coach.)
... the plug on the Jeep...
...and finally a picture of the SMI Stay-in-Play Duo braking system installed.
DH still had to do some work to the unit. The plug on the Jeep end was not working correctly. He replaced it with a new plug so that the lights will work on the Jeep.

Electronics Central
...This area has become my "Electronics Dash Center"
We purchased a wireless charger that is a fast charger that will plug into the new dash outlets. I ran the wire and tucked it underneath the "cup holder" tray. You can see the round plate on the right hand side of the "Dash Center".
The phone will slip into the side and it will not slide out as it sits there on the charging pad.
I was also able to keep the radio remote n the center pocket!

Remote Access
I almost forgot-
This radio package also included a remote control so that the passenger can actually stay safely seated while changing music or answering the phone hands free!

Dash Radio Features
We had this radio on our "Wish List" for the many features that it has.
We were able to get "Hands Free" integrated so that it will work with both our phones.
It came with a microphone that has been mounted so that we can safely talk on the phone without having to find where I have placed either phones.
It also plays music from our phones. I am using it to play downloaded music from Google Play instead of using my "data plan". The music sounds so much better on this stereo!

Lighter, Lighter...Who's Got a Lighter?
Do people really smoke anymore? I hae not used one of these except to charge a cell phone...
...and we decided that this wasn't working for even that purpose...so we decided to replace it while we were re-doing the stereo.
It turns out that you can now buy a USB plug that will almost fit in where a cigarette lighter goes. (A Dremel was used to make the hole a bit larger.)
You can also get them as dual plugs and even as fast charger plugs.
I am very happy with our new dash enhancement!

New Tunes
Our radio was the original radio.
It definitely was not up to our standards so I had a new dash radio on my Christmas List.
Santa evidently decided that I was on the "nice" list because he brought us this...
The biggest problem is that he forgot to leave the "Installation Elf" behind to install it during the bad weather.
It has now been installed and I am surprised at the difference it has made!
